"Wow! Two hours? You Win!"
Ok. I guess the park doesn't hold the same allure to other people apparently as it does for me.
Taking my kiddos to the park is a treat for all of us. They have a blast climbing and using those wonderful "outside voices" of theirs and I have a chance to breathe fresh air and feel at peace with the world. Watching happy children frolic in an afternoon breeze is like bliss.
I was beating myself up again the other day for not having the kids in soccer or baseball or karate classes yet - since, as we all know, organized activities have somehow become a modern suburban necessity for even very young children -- when I realized...
I am a "Playground Mom" not a "Soccer Mom." (I wonder if there is such a thing?)
Nothing against those parents who revel in the competition and the crazed taxing from school to practice to games in the early weekend mornings. I just prefer a laid back trip to the park for some good old-fashioned disorganized play and cloud watching. Picnics, nature walks and new friends. We go several times a week for this free exercise and entertainment.
Apparently this is unusual. I think that is sad.
Hmmmm, now what was I beating myself up for again?
